The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a Washington, DC-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to a prosperous and sustainable future for our nation through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings.

USGBC works toward its mission of market transformation through its LEED green building certification program, robust educational offerings, a nationwide network of chapters and affiliates, the annual Greenbuild International Conference & Expo, and advocacy in support of public policy that encourages and enables green buildings and communities.

Through our Center for Green Schools, we work collaboratively to set the tone and direction for schools that want to become greener and for their supporting organizations. We are creating a backbone of data analysis and visualization for the green schools movement, becoming a strong resource for all who care abotu schools that meeting the environmental, social and educational goals of sustainability. With this foundation of trustworthy and high-quality information, we pursue our three main areas of work: preparing students for a sustainable future; engaging communities for impact, and guiding policy and investment.
