What happens when the temperatures rises in the oceans?

While nearly 70 percent of the world is covered by water, only 2.5 percent of it is fresh. The rest is saline and ocean-based. Even then, just 1 percent of our freshwater is easily accessible, with much of it trapped in glaciers and snowfields. Therefore, it is important to conserve the quality of our water, protect the habitats that help to replenish our drinking water, and be aware of the threats that Sea Level Rise can bring to the water we need for survival. This module begins with knowing the difference between salt water & fresh water and why saltwater intrusion can be devastating to our water quality, and goes on to explore how sea level rise is increasing the threat. The lesson for high school students specifically leads to an active learning activity to assess local water quality and discusses Florida issues relating to importance of conservation.
