This lesson includes a discussion of chickpeas, how they are grown, the main nutrients in chickpeas and why they are good for the body. At the end of this lesson, students should be able to identify the food group to which chickpeas belong (protein) as well as technically are in the fruit group as well. They will identify another name for chickpeas (garbanzo beans), how they can be served, their size, and color. They will be able to identify the health benefits of eating chickpeas. They will be able to identify why protein benefits your body and also what the mineral zinc does for your body as well.
